Disney uses Adobe Technology

The importance of Adobe Certifications is unimaginable.

ADOBE MAX 2008, SAN FRANCISCO — Nov. 17, 2008 — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced that Disney.com, the No. 1 ranked kids entertainment and family community destination on the Web*, is leveraging Adobe video solutions to create and deliver rich interactive experiences. Over the past several months, Disney.com has experienced record online traffic levels as viewers logged on to watch full-length movies delivered via the Adobe® Flash® Platform, the de facto standard for delivering interactive content, applications, and video on the Web. The announcement coincides with the keynote address at Adobe MAX 2008 North America in San Francisco, Calif., where Bud Albers, chief technology officer for Disney Interactive Media Group, is showcasing Disney.com’s successes with online video streaming.

Disney.com began streaming full-length movies online using the Adobe Flash Platform in June 2008. Since then, Disney.com has set new site records for traffic. The online version of the movie “Camp Rock,” which aired using Flash technology on June 23, 2008, was extremely popular and attracted hundreds of thousands of video plays and increased Disney.com traffic by 37 percent.

Disney is the latest media giant to adopt Adobe Flash software for delivering video to the Web. According to a September 2008 study by comScore Media Metrix, 81percent of online videos viewed worldwide are delivered using Adobe Flash technology, making it the No. 1 format for video on the Web. The study showed over 12 billion online videos are viewed monthly.

“We are thrilled that Adobe’s video solutions are used throughout the Disney.com workflow and enhance the success of a must-visit online destination for families and kids,” said Jim Guerard, vice president and general manager of Dynamic Media at Adobe. “Disney’s iconic characters, movies and content are a defining part of our shared popular culture and Adobe Flash technology is the cornerstone to ensuring Disney.com delivers a high-impact experience, to a huge online audience.”

“Adobe video solutions enable us to engage and entertain our audience in rich, interactive, and unprecedented ways. The ubiquitous Adobe Flash Player provides a rich guest experience and allows Disney.com viewers to instantly access our content,” said Bud Albers, chief technology officer and executive vice president, Disney Interactive Media Group.
